Class I and II

Calm water, easy float.

Class III

Moderate whitewater, good for beginners.

Class IV

More challenging whitewater.

Class V

Very difficult.

Hiking Classification System

(E) Easy

Up to 4 mi., up to 600' elevation gain

(M) Moderate

Up to 6 mi., 600'-1500' gain

(S) Strenuous

Up to 10 mi., 1500'-2500' gain

(VS) Very Strenuous

Over 14 mi. and/or more than 3500' gain.
